Another Tuesday, and another #TravelTuesday with Riley! I ..

Another Tuesday, and another #TravelTuesday with Riley! I visited the Champagne region (in France) in 2017. Let me tell you something. I've been to a LOT of famous areas for wines. I've been in Tuscany (Italy), Veneto (Italy), Napa (California - USA), Moravia (Czech Republic), Stellenbosch (South Africa), Barossa Valley (Australia), Adelaide Hills (Australia), Yarra Valley (Australia), Niagara (Canada), Rioja (Spain) and Priorat (Spain). As you can see, I wasn't kidding when I was saying that I've seen a lot of them LOL All of them had their charm and were unique in their own way, and I had such a fantastic trip each time. But there always needs to be an exception. That exception was Champagne. It was SO corporate. You feel like a number, and the people are just....not friendly. ANd yes, I know, it's a touristy spot. But so are all the other regions I've mentioned above. This isn't an excuse. Every damn visit was the same. The same old formula of: here's how we make Champagne. Same dull tasting: here's our most popular one. Yeah, if I wanted to taste your popular one in every country of the world, I could have stayed home. There just wasn't any added value to the tours or anything particular to each place. It is SO expensive to visit for SO little you get. Yes, I know, it's a popular place. But I've been to several famous places...and as much as I like being fucked, even I, I have my limits! The result? I don't have many pictures from that day as when I'm not enjoying my time, I tend to be less active with the camera lol My advice: I'd skip that region. Spend your money elsewhere, or just buy a bottle of champagne at home!
